Zach: Although Wilton Speight will never be elite, Michigan’s defense just might be good enough to carry them to a College Football Playoff bid.

Dan: Christian McCaffrey won’t be missed as much as we thought.

Jason: USC has major holes they need to shore up.

Zach: USC vs. Stanford will decide who wins the Pac 12 Championship.

Dan: Louisville’s end of the year woes will transfer into this season.

Jason: NC State is not as good as people hyped them up to be.

Zach: With Kelly Bryant at quarterback, the ACC is Clemson’s to lose.

Dan: A 5-7 team that loses to Kansas the year before should never be ranked in the preseason poll.

Jason: Will Grier showed why he was so highly recruited out of high school

Zach: Texas needs a few years before we can take them serious.
